Imposter Syndrome is normal.
But that doesn’t mean you have to stay in it.
You can be highly qualified.
You can have years of experience.
You can have the data that says you are good at what you do.
And still wonder:
Do I really know enough?
Am I actually qualified for this?
What if they realise I’m not as good as they think I am?
Should I wait until I’m more confident before I go for it?
If that sounds familiar, this workshop is for you.
RECALIBRATE is a practical workshop for female nerds who are tired of letting imposter syndrome drive.
Imposter syndrome does not mean you are incompetent.
In fact, the more you know, the more you know how much you don't know.
Then add your experiences.
The comments.
The meeting where your idea was ignored until somebody else repeated it.
The feedback that made you question yourself.
The culture you grew up in.
I’m French.
I was taught that talking about your successes is bragging.
So yes, being French AND overqualified makes me a pretty good person to teach a workshop on imposter syndrome 😆
Imposter syndrome doesn’t come from nowhere.
But you also don’t have to wait for the world around you to change before you do something about it.

This is where recalibration comes in.
Imposter syndrome creates a gap between your actual competence and the confidence you feel in that competence.
I call the process of closing that gap recalibration.
It is not about becoming ridiculously confident.
It is not about pretending you know everything.
And it definitely does not require becoming the loudest person in the room.
It is about learning to assess yourself more accurately.
To take the evidence of your competence seriously.
And ultimately, to take yourself seriously.

In this workshop, we’ll cover:
The 5 types of imposters
You’ll identify the patterns you fall into, what triggers them and what you can do when they show up.
Why you developed imposter syndrome in the first place
Because confidence does not develop in a vacuum.
We’ll look at the role your experiences, environment and culture can play in how you see yourself.
How to recalibrate your confidence to your competence
I’ll teach you the 3-step practice I use with my coaching clients:
1. Reconnecting to yourself
2. Collecting data, not thoughts
3. Taking yourself seriously
Because imposter syndrome reaches further than you think.
It can stop you speaking up in a meeting.
But it can also stop you asking for funding.
Applying for the role.
Putting your name forward.
Setting a boundary.
Starting the project.
Taking an opportunity.
Or making a decision you already know you want to make.
You cannot let your imposter syndrome drive.
And you cannot let it stop you either.

This workshop is for you if...
-
You know you are competent but don’t always feel competent.
-
You overprepare because you’re terrified of getting something wrong.
-
You think you need another qualification before you’re allowed to take the next step.
-
You minimise your successes.
-
You wait for reassurance before trusting your own judgement.
-
You compare what you know to everything everybody else knows.
-
Or you’re simply tired of knowing, intellectually, that you’re capable while still struggling to believe it.
You do not need to become a different person.
You need your confidence to catch up with your competence.

Hi, I'm Déborah
I coach nerds to take themselves, their work and their ambitions seriously.
I’ve also had plenty of personal experience with imposter syndrome.
By the time I started my PhD, I already had two master’s degrees.
That didn’t stop people telling me things like:
“You were hired because you’re pretty.”
Or:
“You were hired because you’re a woman. It looks better for quotas and funding.”
Those comments happened more than a decade ago.
I still remember them.
Because comments like that give self-doubt somewhere to grow.
My work now is about helping women separate those messages from the actual evidence of who they are and what they can do.
And then act accordingly.
You don’t need to get rid of every doubt.
You don’t need to wake up tomorrow with unshakeable confidence.
You don’t need to become more extroverted.
And you definitely don’t need another qualification just to prove that you belong.
You need a way to notice when imposter syndrome is taking over and recalibrate.
That’s what I’ll teach you in this workshop.
Frequently asked questions
Is this only for women in engineering?
No. The workshop is designed for women in STEM more broadly, including scientists, engineers, researchers, technical professionals and other female nerds.
Do I need to be in a senior role?
No.
Imposter syndrome can show up at any career stage.
Is this about becoming more confident?
Not in the “believe in yourself and everything will be fine” sense.
We’re working on something much more practical: bringing your confidence into better alignment with the evidence of your actual competence.
Will this solve all the external things that contribute to imposter syndrome?
No.
We are not going to solve bias, exclusion, stereotypes, workplace culture or the patriarchy in one workshop.
It would be a very impressive workshop if we could.
What we CAN do is make sure those things do not get to decide how competent you believe yourself to be.
